The Two Contras

My friend Andrea and I decided to prepare a duo contrabassoon recital, just for fun. It’s rare to have two contrabassoons in one place, let alone on stage by themselves. Our repertoire consisted mainly of works that had been arranged for two or three bassoons, but our first piece — Dorff’s Sonatina d’Amore — was actually written for two contras. We each did some solo work, as well — a Galliard bassoon sonata for Andrea and two Puccini tenor arias for me. Thanks to Garry Kling for making such an excellent recording of the recital. In addition to listening to the mp3s, you can view the original program (as a pdf) and poster.
